GameStop to start accepting (and reselling) iOS device trade-ins [update]

GameStop to start accepting (and reselling) iOS device trade-ins [update]:
From Jostiq

According to “several sources” close to 9to5Mac, GameStop’s all too eager to take your old iPod, iPhone or iPad — and to sell it to somebody else, of course. These sources say that the announcement was made at GameStop’s annual Managers Convention last week in Las Vegas.
Currently, GameStop accepts iOS devices for trade-in, but hasn’t announced any plans to sell these old devices in-store or online. We’ve contacted the retailer for comment and will update accordingly.
From Joystiq
Update: We called around to a few GameStops and were told by several people that GameStop will be taking trade-ins on iOS devices, though likely not for a week or two. We were also told by store employees that the plan is to re-sell the used iOS devices, but no pricing had been set. GameStop corporate has yet to comment.

Sony shares price and details on PlayStation certified Tablets S and P, coming later this year:
Sony tablets s and p
Sony has confirmed prices and dates for its two PlayStation certified tablet computers, both coming out later this fall. The Tablet S is the more traditional tablet, with one screen and 16 or 32GB of storage, and will be out in September starting at $499. But the Tablet P is the more interesting option, offering two 5.5″ display screens hinged together. Both tablets will use the Nvidia Tegra 2 chip architecture, sport dual cameras, and run Android-based software.
They’ll also be fully compatible with Sony’s services, including Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited, and they’ll both play games from the Android Marketplace as well as run PSOne titles released for PlayStation-certified hardware. Both will come standard with Pinball Heroes and Crash Bandicoot ready to go, though the P will put controls on the bottom screen, leaving gameplay up on top.
The Tablet P will hit European shelves in November – North American details haven’t been announced just yet. You can get a closer look at both devices in the gallery below and head over to Engadget for hands-on impressions of the Tablet S.

New settings for Automatic Downloads now available: “

If you take a look at your App Store settings, you’ll find some new options for Automatic Downloads. This new feature allows you have new purchases made on other devices automatically download to the device you’re accessing the settings from.

For example, let’s say I purchase 1Password Pro, a universal application for iPhone and iPad, on my iPhone. If I have Automatic Downloads for apps enabled on my iPad, 1Password Pro will automatically download to my iPad over the air. This feature is available for music, apps, and book purchases.

For those of you who may be concerned about how much data this may be using, turn the “Cellular” setting to OFF so that purchases are only automatically downloaded when connected to Wi-Fi.

iOS App Store updated to include Purchase History:
The App Store on iPhone and iPad has been updated to include your purchase history. It’s located under the “Updates” tab.
When you tap “Purchased”, you will see tabs for all your purchases and ones that are not on that device. Apps that are not installed on your device have an iCloud icon with an arrow inside that will download the app when tapped. Tapping anywhere else on the app row will take you to that app in the App Store so you can learn more about it. To search for apps in either list, just pull down to reveal a search field.

Apple introduces iPad 2, ships March 11

Steve Jobs today announced Apple’s iPad 2, with an all-new design that’s 33% thinner — 8.8mm — 0.2lbs lighter — 1.3lbs total — and includes an Apple A5 processor. The A5 boasts dual-core 2x CPU speed and 9x graphics speeds. Other hardware improvements include front and rear FaceTime cameras, a gyroscope, and more.

“With more than 15 million iPads sold, iPad has defined an entirely new category of mobile devices,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “While others have been scrambling to copy the first generation iPad, we’re launching iPad 2, which moves the bar far ahead of the competition and will likely cause them to go back to the drawing boards yet again.”

It will come in 2 colors, white or black bezel — and white will be shipping day 1! There won’t be an LTE model but there will be support for both AT&T and Verizon. Pricing remains the same, starting at $499 with all storage and 3G options staying the same.

Shipping starts on March 11 in the US, with 26 other countries on March 25 including Australia, Canada, UK, and more.
